LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — More than 100 fires, including around a dozen building fires, were reported around Las Vegas in the late night and early morning hours surrounding July 4, according to a fire official.
All building fires were put out and the official causes are under investigation, Clark County Senior Deputy Fire Chief Kelly Blackmon said in an email.
One fire fully engulfed the roof of a two-story home in the 11000 block of Royal Highlands Street, near Valley View Boulevard and Southern Highlands Parkway.
That fire broke out around 12:20 a.m., and a total of 36 firefighters responded, according to Fire Chief John Steinbeck. No injuries were reported.

Another house fire was reported just before 2:10 a.m. on Forestcrest Drive, near Harmon Avenue and Sandhill Road. Blackmon said the fire spread through a two-story home and to a shed nearby.
Crews found someone in need of help nearby "that was determined to not be associated with the fire," he said. No injuries associated with the fire were reported, and the cause and a damage estimate are under investigation.
Two other fires were reported Wednesday morning in the east valley. One fire on Sandhill Road reported just after 5 a.m. near the U.S. 95 freeway engulfed a trailer, and more than 30 firefighters had to respond.
The other was reported just after 5:50 a.m. on Yakima Avenue, near Tropicana and the 95, hit a two-story home. Blackmon says there were reports of possible victims inside, but primary and secondary searches did not find anybody and no injuries were reported.
There were another 61 tree/bush/brush fires reported before midnight in unincorporated Clark County Wednesday, plus 18 trash can fires, five fires in lots or washes, and six fires considered "outside" but not otherwise classified.
Surrounding jurisdictions provided support for many of these fires, said Blackmon, who noted that while fireworks can be assumed as the cause for many of these fires, an official count won't be finalized for a few days.
A city of Henderson spokesperson said their fire department responded to 13 fires that were potentially related to fireworks.
North Las Vegas firefighters had 45 fire calls over a 24-hour period that started at 8 a.m. Tuesday, according to a city spokesperson. That is largely unchanged from 48 fire calls over the same period last year. Fireworks are believed to have damaged one car, but no building fires or injuries were reported.
Figures from the city of Las Vegas were not immediately available as of Wednesday morning.
A spokesman for the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada said volunteers responded to five fires on Tuesday and Wednesday and are helping 17 people.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said the department's "You Light It, We Write It" task force cited 61 people and seized more than 2,500 pounds of illegal fireworks, though no arrests were made. The enforcement efforts began this week leading to Tuesday night.
All fireworks are once again illegal in Clark County as of Wednesday, regardless of whether they are "safe and sane."
